"If I were..." Grammar!!

Today I learned...

Second conditional grammar tense.

It a Multi-use tool to express yourself in english.

These Second conditional tenses are like other conditionals, it start with If + simple past tense

and the second part which is would + infinitive verb.

There have 3 ways to use these sentences.

  1. We use these sentence to talk about future improbability for example like when we talk about related to money it might possible but not probable like "if I had a lot of money, I would go around the world". You can use the second conditions when you believe that it will have 1% chance of happening.

  2. We use these sentence when we talk about something that is not possible in the presents moment. "If I knew your birthday, I would send you birthday presents" it mean that I don't know your birthday but I express that if I knew that I would like to.

  3. We use these sentence when we want to share your opinion or suggestion it begin the sentence with "If I were you". Example like.."If I were you, I would do that" "If I were you, I would study harder". Or it can specific the age or something in the beginning like.."If I were your age, I would..." "If I were teenage, I would..."
